Today, in Washington, D.C. the impossible will happen. Unless something strange happens, Kamala Harris, who was there for the last insurrection, will certify the Electoral College votes for a man who didn’t like the way the Electoral College did its job last time.
A felon will take his place in the orderly transition of power by the gavel of the woman who believes in the Constitution. The legitimate will turn over power to the — at best — sort of legitimate.
Soon, he will be inaugurated, despite the fact that the Constitution’s fourteenth amendment says it’s unconstitutional, according to a lot of legal scholars.
He will take the Oath of Office and swear to “uphold and defend the Constitution” which he won’t mean. He will stay out of jail despite being convicted, by judges who say he’s more than a citizen, he’s above the law, he is the law.
He will replace a man who legitimately won the 2024 contest, while people screamed he didn’t. The decent man will turn over the keys to a wholly indecent man. Why? Because that’s what the Supreme Court said, and Biden and Harris respect the Court.
The Supreme Court’s Chief Justice just stated that the Court — which has no way to enforce their rulings — should be respected anyway, because the rule of law is so important, and because he says so.
On January 6, 2025, an illegitimate President who shouldn’t have been on the ballot, will be confirmed by an Electoral College he doesn’t care about, and on January 20th, a judge with no power to compel, who lied to get his job, will swear him in.
Is there a rule of law? Is America a democracy, since democracies don’t have kings, and this man definitely wants to be a king? Who says? What’s legitimacy?
There are no good answers to those questions. It’s Opposite Day.
Resisting with Peace,
John
