Resistance Is Necessary

Saving What’s Important

Mike Didn’t Get The Memo….?

I just watched the vote for Speaker of the House and was amazed. The woman who spoke to nominate him gave an incredible Democratic speech about what Congress does. She said things like “help struggling families” and “rule of law” and most importantly, “get done the work of the American people”.

The Speaker, post-election, said all kinds of nice things: How America is — everybody knows it — the best place in the world to live, (Ok, unless you count universal health care), how America gives rights to all of its citizens (except if you’re a woman, a poor person, a Black person, a trans person, an immigrant of Hispanic roots where rights are being taken away in the courts), we’re anti-king (immunity, anyone?), and is the most free country on the planet” and our allies says so (the allies that That Guy wants to break away from? The ones that say he’s a laughingstock?).

I honestly believe in having earnest leaders, but “Aw shucks” was a little too much for me. I will say on his behalf, that the Thomas Jefferson Prayer was really nice, but he “didn’t mean it as a prayer” because even he knows church and state are separate.

But those are all style points, not substance points, for the most part. Johnson and I will disagree on things like that.

The problem that I and he have is that he seems to have forgotten that he works for a narcissistic fascist, not the American people, or at least that’s what his President says. What matters is Trump, Trump, Trump and Trump. While Mike may truly believe he works for America’s people, Trump, Musk, Vivek, and so on beg to differ. That’s not their assumption.

It would be actually be nice if the woman who nominated Johnson, and Johnson himself, did work for all of the American people.

Sadly, though, they’ll have to take it up with their real boss – That Guy and his more-rich-than-anyone-should-be pals.

We’ll see.

Resisting With Peace,

John
