Over the weekend, President Joe Biden pardoned his son, Hunter, after saying he wouldn’t do it for four years. People are going nuts. That’s at least some of the joy of being President — not caring what other people think, if you’re doing what you feel is the right thing. Biden felt like it was the right thing. He had the power to do it. He did it. End of story. The media can go nuts over it. Republicans can go nuts over it. Democrats can go nuts over it. So what? Hunter gets to live his life, free of the fear of ever-angry, ever petty Republicans and their master, Donald Trump.
You know who you haven’t heard from? The Supreme Court Justices. Not a word. Why not? They haven’t said a thing because they just said What The President Does is the law. They said it about Trump, but the law is about Presidents. Joe Biden is President. If Trump gets to be king, then so does Biden. Now everybody should shut up or — if they have to be upset — they should blame it on the Supreme Court.
Oddly, here’s the one consistent thing about the whole matter: Joe Biden has followed the law. The law changed, Joe didn’t. For eight years, Trump and his pals haven’t followed the law. They changed the law, both by cheating to get the Court that they wanted and by the Court making the decision that they did. Biden himself didn’t understand that originally. He swore that he would live by their decree and follow the oath of his office and the rule of law. Oddly, those things are mutually exclusive now.
Under the new rules, that meant that Biden could arrest Trump. Biden could hire seal team six to kill Trump and any Justice that he didn’t like. Then the Republicans would fight to overturn the Court and it’s ruling. That won’t happen because Biden has better boundaries than the Republicans do. He’s a nicer guy. But, according to their Supreme Court, he doesn’t have to be. All he has to do is say “It’s an official act” and it’s free and clear.
He can charge them all with treason and throw them in jail, which would be the quickest way to stop the large-scale breaking of the law that Trump has already said he plans on. Blame it on the court.
All the “oppression” that Fox News has imagined to be happening for the last 8 years or more? Biden could actually do that. I’d be interested in seeing if they noticed any difference in reality, if it felt any different to them.
I read yesterday that someone said, “Democrats bring a knife to a gun fight”. The fact is that the Republicans and Supremes did bring a gun to what used to be a knife fight, but they’ve aimed it at themselves until January 20, 2025.
I’m done playing with restrictions while the other side gets to stay angry about literal nothing (Trump LOST the prior election, and yet they’re still mad about it). I’m done playing with the restrictions of the law while they don’t care about those same restrictions. In any case, I never want to hear another thing that says “Joe Biden is immoral”. Immoral isn’t immoral anymore.
Resisting with logic this time,
John
